At the first consultation all of our patients are examined by duplex ultrasound. If we find the most upper valve of the vein saphene magna in the inguinal destroyed, it has to be removed and closed by surgery.
It can be done outpatient and by local anaesthesia. There is only a small incision and the patients are able to leave the center after 30 minutes. Two valves can be treated by this kind of minimal surgery: one in the inguinal and the other in the hollow of the knee. 2-4 weeks after the surgery the rest of the varicous veins can be removed by sclerotherapy.
The head of the operation team is Prof. Dr. Trubel, a famous vascular surgeon in Vienna, supported by assistants and nurses.
